Finally a book (two books) for the sole practitioner architect with relevant and usable information. I am working my way through both books a second time with a highlighter and taking lots of notes in a separate notebook. I have already used the book to push me over the edge in terms of changes to my business. I have had the foundations laid for a while now but lacked some basic and simple information to get going. One could get this information elsewhere in time consuming bits and pieces but Eric provides what I need here in one place and in a clear format. The first book is more inspirational (I've been a sole practitioner for 16 years already) and the second book has tons of very practical information but should be purchased and read together.
I am currently an Intern Architect who would like to have my own business one day. As an intern, I do not usually get exposed to the business side of running an architecture firm and appreciate that this book helps lay out the process and considerations of starting your own practice. It also has sparked ideas as to how I can start my own business while still employed at my current firm. I still have a lot to learn and I am not yet an architect, but I know I do not wish to work for someone else for the rest of my life. This book helps the brainstorming process of how I can apply my architecture skills to a business, how I can be relevant for potential clients. It also helps confirm what I had been contemplating before, selling services and sets online, but had dismissed because of how specific architecture can be and the liability associated with our profession. I have really enjoyed this book and I have purchased and am half-way through Volume 2. I would recommend this book if you are in the AEC industries and want to branch out on your own. If anything, it will help you see possibilities if you did not before and will help give you general steps to get yourself started. But you have to take action for this book to really help.
This book was just phenomenal. There is so much covered that I would have not even thought of. There are different companies, websites, etc. that he endorses throughout the book. At first, I was thinking, "Hmm, I wonder how much these companies are paying this guy!" However, after questioning and doing a lot of my own research, his recommendations of how to go about things and what services to use really gives you the most bang-for-your buck and he has truly done all the research for you. This book is very thorough and well written, and above all else- it saved me SO much time and from having to do SO much research. It's like having a mentor to take you step-by-step and get you going. I recommend not really getting started until you read the book front to back, and then start following his steps- going back and reading it again. There is a lot to absorb, and all of it is important. The book is about $20 bucks but if you follow Eric's advice, it can save your business at least $2,000 in time, effort, finding the best deals for your needs, and avoiding missteps. I will also be buying his starter package that his company provides online. Another huge time and effort saver.
Eric details the business side of architecture, a topic most people don't want to delve into. As someone who is about to graduate with his masters and has been heavily exposed to only design, I became immediately enthralled with this book. The book discusses things such as business structures, taxes, marketing, client interviews and compensation. A very interesting read for anyone wanting to start their own design practice. The credibility comes from the writer's own experience that are discussed in the book.
This book is the greatest step by step tool I had ever found! Eric, you are trully a successful man.I had been reading and implementing changes to my business based in the instructions and I will tell you - this makes so much sense!The book is flowing through the subject of creating the business model the right way.My favorite part was new client package and marketing section.Thank you Eric for spending time on educating us!
Eric Reinholdt’s lays out the reality of what it means to be an architect entrepreneur. A lot architecture firms are small or one man shops, and because of their size it is hard to learn from this group personally. Eric brings you into his world to show your world you can create for yourself. My one suggestion would be to start with chapter ten first. The first line reads beautifully: “The day I opened my business was the day I realized, for the first time in my life I was building my dreams, not someone else’s.†Then move to chapter eleven before going back to chapter one. In this book you will find insights on how to grow revenue through productization. You will learn how to create your brand and start marketing. But most importantly you’ll find someone like you showing you the way to create your own future.

About the Author
Ruth Duncan, SST, ISRM, SMTO, is an advanced myofascial release therapist, proprietor, instructor, guest lecturer, speaker, national committee member and writer with extensive training in a variety of approaches. She completed her advanced postgraduate training in 2004 with John F. Barnes (the world's leading authority on myofascial release) and has assisted with his seminars in the United States. Duncan also has explored other direct and nondirect fascial approaches, including Thomas Myers' anatomy trains and myofascial meridians, Erik Dalton's myoskeletal alignment techniques and Jean-Pierre Barral's visceral manipulation. She has studied with experts on myriad topics to learn more about human anatomy, function and dysfunction and the emotional aspects of chronic pain and healing. Duncan graduated with honours as a clinical massage therapist from the Humanities Centre School of Massage (now the Cortiva Institute in Florida, USA) and has a diploma in sports therapy from the Society of Sports Therapists (Sports Rehab and Education) and a diploma in sports and remedial massage from the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage. She runs her own clinicm The Natural Therapy Centre north of Glasgow, Scotland, specialising in the MFR approach in single sessions and intensive treatments.

An excellent job of explaining MFR and user friendly so the layman can become familiar with techniques before seeking treatment. MFR is the paradigm shift people are making to totally help themselves live a more joyful and productive life without so many medications!!! Recommend it to anyone who has been living with discomfort or a decrease in their enjoyment of life and abilities in doing daily living skills!
This book approaches myofascial release from the intake form all the way though treatment. The images are very helpful and, even though a massage therapy background will help, the writing itself is easy to understand. I look forward to referring to this book over and over in my own practice.

This is a very good buy. The various myofascial release techniques are explained and practical examples are given. Attending a myofascial release techniques workshop would enhance the gains of the book. I went to a workshop and was able to consolidate what I had learnt through reading this book
I should have guessed by the cover, but the hand placements shown in this book would probably cause me to lose my state license.
An excellent introduction to fascia and Myofascial Release. The explanations are easy to understand and the photos of the techniques greatly enhance the descriptions. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning about Myofascial Release. But, then it is important to learn the hands on techniques from a teacher who is very experienced in teaching how to do it effectively. This is a good resource book to have in the office.
