However, the diagram of the autonomic nervous system, which is divided into ``sympathetic'' and ``para sympathetic'' functions, is confusing, as the two terms are never defined. The writ ing is interesting, readable, and lively. Be cause of its brevity and style, the book is not packed with information like Larry Kettelkamp's The Human Brain (Enslow, 1986) or the Silversteins' World of the Brain (Morrow, 1986), but as introductory material it is a good additional title.
